The Movement Exchange
The Movement Exchange is a collaborative Ensemble founded in 2004 by Robin Snyder-Wiencek. It consists of local dancers and choreographers who have joined together to form a professional dance company. The Movement Exchange, which is in residence at Experimental Movement Concepts/PA was founded to provide an environment for professional dancers and choreographers to work as a group, using each member's individual unique voice to create and perform new works. Through collaboration, the company does not limit themselves to the ideas of one dominant decision maker. Rather, each member brings her own style and vision allowing the repertoire to be diverse.
Repertory Ensemble
The Experimental Movement Concepts' Repertory Ensemble consists of 40+ dancers ranging in age from 8 to 18, who have been carefully selected from our student population. These boys and girls have demonstrated a sense of commitment to their art, an understanding of the technique and the desire and ability to perform on stage.
Ensemble Members are required to take ballet, tap, jazz and modern classes weekly in addition to 3-4 hours of rehearsals. Our Dancers are given the opportunity to study with professional choreographers and perform publicly. In addition to our semi-annual productions at The Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, our dancers have performed at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, The Baltimre Museum of Art, Towson University's Unitas Stadium, The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center and the Gorden Center for Performing Arts.
Our repertoire includes original works from choreographers hailing from Baltimore, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Amsterdam, and Southern York County.
Susquehanna Youth Ballet
The Susquehanna Youth Ballet is a preprofessional training program and performing company under the direction of Ashley Wehrle, in residence at EMC/PA. Our dancers will have the opportunity to study Classical and Contemporary Ballet in a professional environment. Performing opportunities will include EMC's Holiday Celebration, informal studio presentations and commnunity events.
