Tumble Bugs
18-36 months
In this class, our youngest students playfully learn to move over, under, through, around and on apparatus in a safe manner. The main focus of this class is to increase the child's body awareness through the child's movement and a sense of his/her surroundings in terms of sharing space. The parent learns to become a facilitator of the child's movement discoveries. Lesson plans will allow for each child's individual progressions. We require one adult per child enrolled in the class. For safety reasons, siblings are not permitted in the instruction area. For students ages 24-36 months old, parent participation is optional.
Tumble Weeds
3-4 years
This class is appropriate for the child who demonstrates a definite independence from the parent, has an adequate attention span and the ability to follow simple directions. Children learn to accomplish rolling, cartwheels, simple vaults, swinging, hopping, jumping, landing, leaping, balancing, and weight transfer on and off equipment.
Tumble Tykes
5-6 years
In this class, students are asked to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. Children work on spatial awareness, listening skills and the form and technique needed to conquer more difficult movement challenges. Cartwheels, round-offs, front head rolls, handstands, vault, bars, and beam are explored.
Level 1
7-12 years
This class is an introductory program of gymnastics and tumbling. Flexibility, strength and technique are emphasized. Skills include forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, walk-overs on the floor, and other basic moves on the beam, bars, and vault.
Level 2
7-12 years
This class is for our advanced beginner level gymnasts who are ready to work hard and push to the intermediate level. Balance and coordination are stressed. Lots of handstand work will improve upper body strength, giving young gymnasts the ability to conquer this level's curriculum. Round-offs, back bends, kick-overs, back hip circles, and more advanced vault and beam skills will be taught.
Level 3
9-13 years
In this intermediate level class, our most skilled gymnasts will incorporate power into their movements to further perfect their technique. Front handsprings, back handsprings on the floor, cartwheels and handstands on the beam, and higher level vault and bar skills will be developed. Due to spatial limitations, gymnasts in Level 3 will concentrate on the following events: floor, beam, parallel bars, vault and basic single bar skills. At Discovery Gym, we offer a strong gymnastics foundation so that students have the tools to excel in other areas such as competitive gymnastics, cheerleading, dance, martial arts, sports and more.
Hot Shots
4-13 years (by invitation only)
We are proud to introduce our Acrobatic Performance Groups consisting of our top gymnasts who are committed to attending an additional rehearsal each week. This group will be featured in public performances in the community, as well as in professional venues with EMC's dancers. Participants are hand-picked by the Discovery Gym Director. Purchase of a uniform for performance is required.

Height/Weight policy:
EMC's Discovery Gym program is designed for ages 18 months to approximately 13 years old. Due to the height of the ceilings in the Discovery Gym, size of the physical space of the gym and ages of the targeted students, EMC's equipment is designed for children ages 18 months to 13 years old and has weight limitations to ensure safety.
Discovery Gym students may not exceed 5 feet in height and 120 lbs to safely take class at EMC. The height restriction is based on Miss Katie's experience in the Discovery Gym and the weight restriction is recommended by an equipment manufacturer.
