*NEW! Tumbling for Cheerleaders
Physical fitness. Self-confidence. Courage. Self-discipline. Social awareness. Physical and mental strength. Self-appreciation. Teamwork. Flexibility. These are the benefits your child can attain through her involvement in cheerleading and gymnastics. This class will address all aspects of gymnastic-related cheerleading skills with about 80% of the time devoted to tumbling skills specific to the needs of cheerleaders. The rest of the time we devote to leaps and jumps, etc. This camp is for girls ages 7-12. No experience necessary. Girls should wear shorts, a T-shirt tucked in and bare feet. No gum or jewelry. Hair must be pulled back for safety, as long hair interferes with rolling, somersaulting and twisting skills. Please pack a water bottle.

Tumble Bugs
18-24 months (Parent/Child Class)
In this class our youngest students are introduced to the gymnastics equipment. Here they playfully learn to move over, under, through, around, and on apparatus in a safe manner. The main focus of this class is to increase the child's body awareness through the child's movement and a sense of his/her surroundings in terms of sharing space. The parent learns to become a facilitator of the child's movement discoveries. We require one adult per child enrolled in this class. For safety reasons siblings are not permitted in the instruction area.
Tumble Bees
24-36 months (Parent/Child Class)
This class is designed to help transition the young child from Tumble Bugs to Tumble Weeds. It is well-suited for the child who is beginning to show an independence from the parent while in the classroom. Parents may be called in as needed by the child, however, the ultimate goal is to prepare the child to attend class without a parent in the Tumble Weeds level. See Tumble Bugs & Weeds descriptions for more details.
Tumble Weeds
3-4 years (no parents in the gym)
This class is appropriate for the child who demonstrates a definite independence from the parent, has an adequate attention span and the ability to follow simple directions. Children learn to accomplish rolling, cartwheels, simple vaults, hopping, jumping, landing, leaping, swinging, balancing, and weight transfer on and off equipment.
Tumble Tykes
5-6 years
Our unique equipment set-ups, and teaching technique, allows students to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. Children work on spatial awareness, listening skills, and the form and technique needed to conquer more difficult movement challenges. Cartwheels, round-offs, front head rolls, handstands, vault, bars and beam are explored.
Level 1 & 2
7-12 years
An introductory program of gymnastics and tumbling. Flexibility, strength, and technique are introduced. This class is geared toward students with no previous gymnastics experience. Skills include headstands, forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels on the floor, and other basic moves on the beam, bars, and vault.
Level 3
7-12 years (With Instructor's Approval)
Emphasizes proper technique and skills needed to master intermediate gymnastics. New, more advanced challenges and sequencing of skills are introduced. This class is geared towards beginning and intermediate level gymnasts. Previous training is required. Students are placed into groups by ability, and challenged accordingly. Students must have a fundamental understanding of the skills introduced in Level 1 class and must be ready to refine the technical details. Conditioning and dance for gymnastics will be included in the lesson plans for this level.
Dress Code
Proper attire is essential in preparing the mind and body for gymnastics training. Students who are not dressed properly will not be permitted to take class. Biker-tards are preferred for the cleaner, discreet line. If you insist on a leotard, please observe the following: No underpants are to be worn under the girls' leotard. Briefs are required and can be purchased at The Dance Shoppe. Hair must be worn in 1 or 2 pony tails or braids. Bangs must be pinned back or shorter than the eyebrows. No jewelry or gum permitted in the Discovery Gym. Bare feet are the appropriate foot-wear for gymnastics. All leotards are available at The Dance Shoppe in the Factory.
