The Music Academy

Music
The Music Academy at EMC is dedicated to advancing the development of young musicians through a unique combination of intensive personal instruction, educational programs and performance opportunities, all of the highest quality.

Our Facility
The Music Academy is conveniently situated in the Experimental Movement Concepts building in New Freedom, a 20,000 square foot space bustling with activities for children and families. The Music Wing will house up to 2 group/ensemble studios, up to 6 individual practice rooms, a music library, a retail shop and a comfortable waiting space for parents including restroom.

Informal recitals will be held in one of our dance studios and formal recitals will be held at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center at Penn State York.

Our Programs
We will offer private instruction in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, upright bass, guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, percussion and more.

Younger students may participate in Music Play, Music Appreciation and Children’s Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Group Guitar.

Older students will study Music Theory (beginning in the Fall) and have the opportunity to work in small groups or ensembles such as a String Quartet, Percussion Ensemble or Jazz Band. We will offer instruction for students of all ages (24 months to adult) and ability. Each instrument has a recommended starting age.

Performance Opportunities
In December, all musicians will perform in an informal recital for family and friends in one of EMC’s spacious dance studios. Those who are at an appropriate skill level will be selected to perform at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center at Penn State York in June. Additional performing opportunities for our young musicians may include Coffee-House Open-Mike Nights, community events, parades, retirement homes and art exhibits.

Scheduling
All scheduling will be done through EMC’s front desk. Different instructors will be available on different days, offering different classes and private instruction. The permanent schedule will become more clear as the summer progresses, however, we encourage you to call and get on a summer class list today. Classes are already being populated.

For the complete Schedule of Current Classes, please go to the Class Schedules page, or contact EMC.
