Real dance education. A commitment that fits your life.
What if your child could experience exceptional dance education without committing to multiple classes or several days of training each week?
What if your teenager could finally try dance without feeling like they're starting too late?
What if there were another way to be part of EMC?
We're exploring something new for January 2027, and we want YOUR input!
HELP SHAPE THE DANCE PROJECT — TAKE OUR SHORT SURVEY
For 35 years, EMC Performing Arts Studio has built its reputation on high-quality performing arts education, strong technical foundations, and meaningful performance opportunities.
We're incredibly proud of what we've created, and we have no intention of compromising those standards.
But we've been thinking about the families we're not reaching.
The 10-year-old who's curious about dance but has a busy schedule.
The teenager who's always wanted to dance but worries everyone else has a head start.
The Discovery Gym student who loves being at EMC and might enjoy exploring dance, but isn't looking for the commitment of our traditional technique program.
We believe these students deserve exceptional dance education, too.
That's why we're exploring The Dance Project at EMC.
The Dance Project is a proposed new dance pathway designed for students who want quality instruction, meaningful progress, and the joy of dance—with a more manageable weekly commitment.
It's not a watered-down version of our technique program. It's not simply an activity to fill an hour.
It's genuine dance education, taught by qualified EMC instructors, with the same attention to technique, artistry, musicality, and personal growth that has defined our studio for 35 years.
Less time doesn't have to mean less quality.
We're considering two age divisions:
Ages 8–12: For children who want to discover dance, build skills, and explore something new without a demanding weekly schedule.
Ages 13+: For teens who are new to dance, returning after time away, or looking for an opportunity to learn without feeling like they're behind.
No previous dance experience required.
And for students who eventually want more intensive training? EMC's comprehensive technique program will be there as an option, never an expectation.
Here's where YOU come in.
Rather than creating a program and hoping families enroll, we're asking our community to help us determine what would work best.
We're considering several possibilities:
The Essential Dance Package: A well-rounded foundation in ballet, tap, and jazz.
À La Carte Dance: Choose the individual dance styles that interest your child.
Rotating Dance Styles: Experience different styles and genres throughout the season.
We're also exploring what families would value in terms of scheduling, weekly commitment, and performance opportunities—including the possibility of participating in our annual Spring Concert at the Pullo Center.
Nothing is set in stone yet. Your feedback will help shape our decisions.
Whether you're a current EMC family, a former student, or someone who's never stepped through our doors, we'd love to hear from you.
We've created a short survey to learn what families are looking for, what might be holding them back, and what kind of dance program would fit their lives.
You don't have to be interested in enrolling to participate. We welcome honest feedback from our entire community.
Interested in hearing what we decide? You can request updates at the end of the survey.
At EMC, we've always believed that dance education is about more than learning steps.
It's about artistry, confidence, discipline, friendships, and discovering what you're capable of.
We believe those opportunities should be available through more than one pathway.
After 35 years, we're still growing, still listening, and still finding new ways to welcome children into the performing arts.
Thank you for helping us imagine what's next.
